Unit 4 → Subtopic 4.1
How Has Globalization Changed Your Life?
Globalization has transformed the way people live, work, and interact with the world. From the food we eat to the technology we use, international trade, digital connectivity, and economic interdependence have made the world more connected than ever before. This project challenges students to investigate how globalization has directly impacted their daily lives, examining its effects on consumer goods, job opportunities, culture, and personal lifestyle choices.
Students will begin by researching the key drivers of globalization, such as technological advancements, trade liberalization, multinational corporations, and global financial markets. They should examine how increased trade and communication have led to economic growth, cultural exchange, and improved access to goods and services.
A major component of this project is evaluating how globalization has changed personal consumption habits. Students should analyze how products they use daily—such as smartphones, clothing, and food—are sourced from different parts of the world. They should track where these products are manufactured, how they reach their country, and whether globalization has made them more affordable or accessible.
Another key aspect is assessing the impact of globalization on job opportunities and education. Students should investigate whether globalization has created more career choices, encouraged remote work, or led to job outsourcing and labor market shifts. They should also examine how international education programs, online courses, and global networking opportunities have expanded their ability to learn and collaborate across borders.
The final report should analyze whether globalization has had a mostly positive or negative effect on students’ personal lives. The goal of this project is to help students understand how globalization affects them in ways they may not have previously considered, shaping their consumer behavior, career opportunities, and cultural experiences.
